PCCW launching IPO tomorrow, say sources
Ecuadorian telecoms authority Superintendencia de Telecomunicaciones (Supertel or Suptel) has revealed that the country’s
second largest
mobile operator by subscribers, Movistar, began the shutdown of its legacy CDMA
network at the beginning of this month, and will finish the
process at the end of the year. Movistar had 68,000 remaining CDMA2000-based
users at the end of September, although this was down from 92,000 the previous month, and at the same date it had 4.2 million 2G GSM
mobile phone subscribers and 192,000 3G W-CDMA/HSPA
mobile broadband customers.
