PCCW Global and Cyta enhance Ethernet services
Costa Rican state-owned
internet service provider (ISP) Radiografica Costarricense (RACSA) is close to completing a deal with Swedish vendor Via Europa to bring fibre-to-the-home (FTTH)
technology to San Jose,
reports local news source El Financiero. The agreement, which is expected to be signed next month, will see the two
companies form a 15-year strategic partnership and begin rolling out the new infrastructure in mid-2012. The first stage of deployment will
connect 20,000 homes in the west of the capital to the network, whilst in the
second phase the
network will be expanded to reach a further 60,000 households throughout the rest of San Jose’s greater
metropolitan area.
