Bangladesh tripled internet bandwidth usage; prices soon to fall
According to
news daily La Nacion, Argentine media giant Grupo Clarin is currently negotiating the sale of its Paraguayan
cable TV
operator Cablevision, which also has a presence in the
broadband sector through ISP FiberTel. La Nacion
reports that potential buyers for the cableco
include Mexico's America Movil, which currently has a presence in the Paraguayan
wireless sector through Claro Paraguay, and Telecom Argentina-owned Nucleo (Telecom Personal Paraguay), which operates in both the
wireless and
broadband markets. According to unnamed sources close to the company, Grupo Clarin values the
company at USD180 million, whilst America Movil is reluctant to pay more than USD160 million for the cableco; Telecom Argentina’s offer has not yet been disclosed.
